Flashback friday: Alyssa Beasley
Hello everyone and welcome to my first installment of "Flashback Friday!" Since the year is coming to an end, I figured I would reminisce about some of my favorite looks from this pageant season and previous pageant seasons. Before we get into this post, I would like to thank everyone for their support and encouragement on my first blog post! I cannot wait to put out more wonderful content for my readers!
For my first ever Flashback Friday, I have the honor of featuring Miss Georgia USA 2020, Alyssa Beasley! Alyssa is a student at the University of Georgia where she danced for the Georgettes Dance Team. She has recently returned from Graceland where she competed in the Miss USA 2020 competition and placed among the top 15 out of 51 contestants. Let's jump right into her winning look from the state pageant!
This bright red Jovani sheath evening gown was arguably one of my favorite gowns of the 2020 pageant season. I absolutely love this vibrant shade of red against the white stage. It pairs exceptionally well with her skin tone and hair color. With so many shades of red, it can be difficult to find the perfect fit but I think Alyssa nailed it. The sweetheart neckline is not traditional and comes to a point that transitions into a princess seam. A princess seam is a construction detail used in the draping process that helps tailor the dress to the body. Visually, princess seams can make you appear taller. In combination with the perfectly placed high slit, the princess seam elongates her legs and body causing her to appear tall on stage. I also really appreciate the placement of the cape. Typically evening gown capes are attached to the back of the gown at the neckline or the shoulders, but this one is attached at the cap sleeve on the right arm with an intricate bronze beading pattern. To add cohesion, the same beading is placed over the high slit.
Can we just talk about how much I love the sleek hair that flows away from the face?! This trend started emerging in the 2018 pageant season and has become widely popular since then. I think it goes very well with this dress because you are able to see the pointed sweetheart neckline of the gown and the intricate beading pattern on the right shoulder. It also allows you to see the earrings in their entirety. I love the large pointed teardrop shape of her earrings and how both colors in her gown are incorporated into the beading pattern. The final touch to this beautiful ensemble are her platform heels. I appreciate that they are not the typical nude platform pageant shoe and that they coordinate with the overall color scheme of the gown and accessories. Every pageant girl should have a pair of nude shoes in their closet, but they also have a time and a place! If the outfit is a bright or standout color, a pair of matching shoes creates a complete and cohesive look and is less distracting to the judges.
Overall, this look is a W-I-N-N-E-R! Out of all of the dresses I saw on the Miss Georgia USA stage, this one stuck out to me and will be one that I remember for a long time. The confidence that Alyssa wears with her gown makes her stand out even more!
